Avoid COVID-19 Frauds and Scams

Be aware that criminals are attempting to exploit COVID-19 worldwide through a variety of scams.  There have been reports of:

  • Phishing emails from entities posing as the World Health Organization or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Malicious websites and apps that appear to share virus-related information to gain and lock access to your devices until payment is received.
  • Seeking donations fraudulently for illegitimate or non-existent charitable organizations.
  • Individuals and businesses selling fake cures for COVID-19 online and engaging in other forms of fraud.

Criminals will likely continue to use new methods to exploit COVID-19 worldwide. If you think you are a victim of a scam or attempted fraud involving COVID-19, you can report it without leaving your home though a number of platforms.

Spiro State Bank is Open for Normal Business Hours

Spiro State Bank has reopened our lobbies to the public.  We want to thank our customers and the community for their understanding and patience while we all try to adjust to the current news and guidance from state and federal agencies concerning the COVID-19 virus.

Spiro State Bank has taken additional steps to help protect our customers and employees from spreading the virus which include:

-Installing physical barriers along our teller lines and limiting seating in our public areas

-Providing hand sanitizer for customers in our bank lobbies

-Enhancing cleaning routines in our buildings

-Instructing employees who are sick or show symptoms of illness to stay home

-Encouraging social distancing and wearing masks when social distancing is not possible.

If you are experiencing virus related symptoms or feel uneasy using the bank lobby, we ask that you use one of our other banking options such as the drive-in, ATMs, night drops or online banking services.

We also encourage you to call and make appointments to visit with a loan officer or new accounts representative before your visit to the bank.  This will assist us in gathering information over the phone we may need to process your loan or open a new account before your visit.  This will shorten your time waiting for important paperwork to be completed.

If traffic in our lobby increases to a point where social distancing cannot be maintained, then we may limit the number of customers in the bank at one time.  At that point, we may ask you to wait in your vehicle or in line outside our front doors until space becomes available.

Spiro State Bank wants to create a safe environment for our customers and employees, so we are encouraging you to wear a mask in our buildings.  For security we may ask that you remove your mask briefly for identification.  Once you have been identified by our employees, you may wear you mask inside.  If you are uncomfortable removing your mask temporarily then we ask you to make an appointment by phone for the banking service you need or continue to use other banking options such as our drive-in hours, 24 hour ATMs, online banking, and telephone banking.

The steps and procedures we have issued may change from time to time as Federal and State guidance changes.  Again, we thank you for your understanding and patience as we strive to provide you the best service possible.
